Southwest Florida Football is here to offer all needed information for Florida Elite West District. Florida Elite (FE) offers more of a travel league but continuously adds more and more teams every year. Currently, there are 6 teams in Southwest Florida that play in Florida Elite West District. Those are the Cypress Lake Hornets, St. Pete Dolphins, Sarasota Seminoles, PAL Stingrays, Fort Myers Falcons, and Golden Gate Titans. The rest of the teams are spread out from Ocala, Orlando, Polk county, down to Miami.
The Golden Gate Titans are the only Naples-based Florida Elite team currently. The Cypress Lake Hornets, Fort Myers Falcons, and PAL Stingrays are all based in Fort Myers. Sarasota Seminoles are the northernmost SWFL team in FE. St. Pete Dolphins are new to FE and is the only team in Florida Elite between Sarasota and Fort Myers.
While Florida Elite offers fewer teams in SWFL than PRC they do have the opportunity to travel around the state and compete against some of the best teams. FE has so many organizations that they have their own playoff system. Modeled after the NFL playoffs they have a divisional round, Conference round, and what they call the Super Bowl of Florida Football. This year they have not only separated it by conference but also by districts.
They follow the same unlimited weight system that is based on age. One big difference between the two systems though is FE actually lets the 6U team compete and keep score. In our opinion, this is better while we understand some may see things differently. They also keep personal stats and give awards to standout players. If your child is excelling at football you should strongly look into FE. While there are VERY competitive teams in PRC, most would struggle to do well in this league.
